empress fitness

I am in no way shape or form a personal trainer/instructor, expert in the fitness world by any means. I just love taking care of my body and the endorphin high that come with going to the gym afterwards. I naturally have a slim/skinny frame so most people would equate this to being healthy, however with a strong family history of diabetes and high blood pressure, I decided that I really need to take hold of my health and change up my lifestyle choices. My relationship with the gym hasn’t always been that strong, in fact there was a time I joined the gym and only went around 4 times in the 6 months I had the membership. It wasn’t until a pudge started to grow around my midline and running started to become a difficult task I made the decision to recommit to the gym again.

I have been though two personal trainers for strength training - this is recently become a new trend over the post few years, #Glutes #Abs and all that jazz. From both of them I’ve learnt so much, but the key points in both are getting your mind motivated first. I do use Pinterest and Instagram for a lot of my sessions, and currently on a daily gym challenge. I’m not sure when I’ll stop if it will be 30 days or 50 maybe 100, but I’m finding through doing exercise each day not only physically am I doing better but mentally also.

Leg Day

The session most guys avoid - heaven knows why because they out here looking like Johnny Bravo, but I find ladies love - maybe its growing our glutes? As well as the aesthetic appeal, I love leg day because I find this is the one no matter what the exercise is, I am strongest at… which brings me to Core…

core

This is no secret. I’m not a fan of core… at all. I’m sure that’s why my PT used to sneak it into super-sets in our sessions. I used to have a natural ab-crack - but my love of food and no exercise put my core into hibernation. I have found that these simple exercises when done correctly has helped my abs come forth.

Arms - Guns ah’ Steel

Weakest muscle in my body I’m sure however I found that it has helped with transforming my body’s shape from a pencil to okay we still out here forming whatever shape it is that’s coming through. I find that on Arm days with it being push or pull, it is usually teamed with back exercises or shoulders.

Cardio

I keep it simple, treadmill workouts and classes at the gym. All of which get the heart pumping faster.

Rest Day

Resting is just as important as all the other components of fitness lifestyle, it gives the body a chance to heal and repair itself.

Swimming

It was the winter of 2017/18 while only being able to walk across the pool and not much else I decided I needed to stop putting off learning to swim. Yes I could not swim all this time. I started in junior school but never continued beyond that and never saw it as an important skill to have in life.
